In this intervention used recordings of my voice to respond to and interact with sounds already present in the space: the high tone of a ventilation tube and the lower tone of a heater. With one speaker playing a low sung tone pointed toward the heater and another speaker playing a high sung tone pointed toward the ventilation tube, the sounds of my voice and of the space’s pre-existing sounds merge. Together, they create two lines in the space. They make a chord, a chord in space. Given the industrial soundscape of the building, one might not at first notice my subtle intervention, but by discovering these added sounds you might walk through the space in a different way.
