  1. If I were a bird, would I be able to say more?

    Performance, for 4 walking musicians
Framer Framed, Amsterdam, NL, curated by Naz Kocadere
    2023

  2. A performance for 4 walking musicians based on a graphic score. Four performares are walking through the resonant spaces of the Framer Framed gallery, interacting with each other in a call and response manner, mimicking the language of birds. The performance is activiating a graphic score featured in a publication “What are the words you don’t have yet”. The performers are pronouncing words featured in a score as if they were birds learning human language. Naz Kocadere: "In her set of graphic notations titled If I were a bird, would I be able to say more? Anna Orlikowska intertwines individual expressions with graphic equivalent of bird sounds. Analysing alternate methods of comprehensive listening experiences in nature, particularly through the language of birds"

Performers: Miriam den Boer (violin), Irene Sorozabal Moreno (voice, recorder), Felicity Provan (trumpet, voice), and Camille Verhaak (clarinet).

Curated by Naz Kocadere with contributions from Anna Orlikowska, Gülşah Mursaloğlu, and Marjet Zwaans, the framework of the project emerged from a dedicated interest and research on language systems as well as the linguistically intangible. Inspired from Audre Lorde’s writing, the artists in the project contribute in ways in which they explore widening perspectives beyond the homocentric approach. Experimenting across artistic mediums including sound, image, installation, and performance.
